Velma Morgan, affectionately known as "Ms Vee," formed the Truthettes in 1975. The group was made up of the children of a group called the Gospel Truth, which she also organized. Ms Vee and her two daughters, Tu-Tu and Tammy are original members of the group. In 1981 the Truthettes recorded their first album with Malaco Records. It was called "A Child's Prayer." As the group traveled with the late Willie Neal Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes, they becaome very popular in the traditional gospel genre. Tu-Tu was the oldest member of the group at age 13. She dazzled audiences with her matured voice. While with Malaco Records, The Truthettes also recorded "He's Still Working On Me," "Take It To The Lord In Prayer," "Making A Way," "God Will Make Things Alright," "Every Step Of The Way," and "Flowing." They are known for such hits as "Peanut Butter and Jelly," "God Stood By My Side," "Every Step Of The Way and a few others. The group recorded "God Will Make A Way" with Running Records in March of 1999. The present members of the group are Tu-Tu, Tammy, Velma and Amy Simms, a dear family friend. Jason Morgan and Jovan Morgan play the keyboards and drums, respectively. Both are younger bothers of Tu-Tu and Tammy. The Truthettes have traveled extensively throughout the United States and continue to do so. The have performed at several gospel explosions and festivals, including the Heineken Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Holland. They have also received many award and presentations including "Gospel Legends" at the 1999 Gospel Music Workshop of America. The group has also appeared on Bobby Jones Gospel many times. They have blessed audiences all over the world for over 30 years. They are truly one of Gospel's Living Legends. ..
